I knew that it
wasn’t going to be a quick-fix and that I needed a complete
lifestyle change. We decided that to make this lifestyle change
work, and last, our home environment needed to change. As a
family, we started to eat more fruits and vegetables, and completely
got rid of soda in the house, we try to eat less treats, and
we don’t have candy sitting around tempting us—out of sight out of mind. This isn’t to say that I have become strict about what I eat; I am now just more aware of what I am eating. I am a firm believer in the rule: everything in moderation. If you completely restrict you’re favorite foods out of your diet you’ll go crazy and eventually cave in. Just little simple changes in my diet have yielded huge results.
Along with changing my diet I also needed
to become more active (which was easy because my level of activity
was virtually non-existent) so my mom and I
started to come to Lady Fitness. While starting out at the gym, we needed someone
to push us so we attended the classes that are offered. I am
now able to push myself, and though I still love the classes,
I am a self-proclaimed running addict and I ran in my first
FULL marathon in May.
I just wanted to share a little bit of
my story to let people know that losing weight is possible.
There is no secret, no pill, and no special diet—it’s just the simple acts of exercising
and eating right. It’s a hard long road but your results will pay off and last you a lifetime—so don’t
give up!
